He was a retired Pastor, who for 77 years preached, sang and testified about the Stranger of Galilee with whom he had a living experience. As a young man he received his call to preach, and was ordained by the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana) in 1938. He faithfully served ten pastorates throughout the Midwest during his lifetime. He will be greatly missed by family and friends on earth, but after 96 years of Godly living, there were many loved ones waiting at the gate to welcome him home. Best of all, he heard the words from the One he loved the most, "Well done, thou faithful servant, come on in!"
Rev. Hogue was preceded in death by his parents, William Hogue and Elizabeth Willis Hogue, his son Ronald Gene Hogue, granddaughter Anne Hogue England, seven brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Opal Oliver Hogue, sons and daughters-in-laws; Rev. Oliver C. and Kathy Hogue of Holland, Texas, Rev. Terry L. and Kathy S. Hogue of Scott Depot, Dr. Gavin Hogue of Scott Depot, Peggy Hogue of Scott Depot; one brother, Riggle Hogue of Branson, Missouri, two sisters, Verla Horton of East Prairie, Missouri and Bonnie Bailey of Sikeston, Missouri, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Chapman Funeral Home Chapel, Hurricane, with Rev. Oliver C. Hogue and Rev. Terry L. Hogue officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
