John Jacob Conrad was born on September 25, 1817, in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob & Rebecca (King) Conrad and he died on March 17, 1901, in Coshocton, Ohio. He married Rebecca King on November 8, 1840, in Coshocton, Ohio. She was the daughter of William and Mary Magdelen (Straub) King. Rebecca was born on December 26, 1822 in York County, Pennsylvania and died September 10, 1894. They are both buried in the Cemetery of the United Church of Christ, formerly known as The Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Bedford, Ohio.

Children of John & Rebecca (King) Conrad were:

1. Mary Ann Conrad was born on October 31, 1841, in Mechanic, Ohio. She married James Patterson on June 21, 1860, in Millersburg, Ohio. She died on June 28, 1906, in Millersburg, Ohio.

2. Margaret Conrad was born on November 9, 1842 and died in 1897.

3. Magdalena Conrad (infant deceased)

4. William Henry Conrad was born December 24, 1846 and died in 1918.

5. John Wesley Conrad was born on February 10, 1848 and died in 1918.

6. George Albert Conrad (infant deceased)

7. Rebecca Jane Conrad was born on July 29, 1851 and died in 1917.

8. Catharine Maria Conrad was born on August 22, 1854, in Ohio. She died on January 22, 1931, in Irwin, Pennsylvania.

9. Henry Washington Conrad was born on June 22, 1856 and died in 1940.

10. Elizabeth Barbara Conrad was born on April 18, 1861 and died in 1926.

Carol Ann Barr, 58, of Ashland, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 2009, at her residence, following a long illness.

She was born on Feb. 15, 1951, in Lodi to Wayne J. and Virginia Walmer Hunter.

She had been a resident of the Ashland area most of her life. She was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. She was employed by General Motors Ontario Plant as a tool and die maker for 19 years before retiring. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

On Nov. 3, 1990, she married John W. “Bill” Barr, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Angela (Travis) McKissick of Nankin; a stepdaughter, Mary (Vond) Hall of Archbold; a stepson, Mike (Tammy) Barr of Nova; seven grandchildren; and her brother, Dale Hunter of Hagerstown, Md.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Bill Schaefer officiating.

Burial will be in Nankin Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009, at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, 313 Center St., Ashland.

ASHLAND -- Virginia P. (Walmer) Hunter, 78, of Center Lane Drive, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 5, 1999, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home after a long illness. Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland, with the Rev. Jack Barker officiating. Burial will be at Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, or one hour prior to the services. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Navy & Marine Mothers Club of Ashland. She was born May 1, 1920 in Wayne County to Floyd H. and Edith Ann (Conkle) Walmer and married Wayne J. Hunter on May 1, 1942. He survives.

WILLIAM J. TROGDEN SR. OBITUARY

WILLIAM J. TROGDEN SR, 74 years old, died at the home of his son, Pharoah Trogden on Tom's Creek, near Wayne last week, Wednesday, May 31, 1922.  Old age along with a paralytic given as the cause of his death.  Mr. Trogden,74 years old, the son of the late Elisha & Susan (Aliff) Trogden.  Burial was made in the Wayne Cemetery.  Surviving relatives are Mrs. Elizabeth (Bowen) Trogden, and the following children: Richard Trogden of Genoa, John, William, Pharoah, Hop, Henry & Sam Trogden, all of near Wayne, Mrs. William Holland of Greenbrier, Mrs. Henry Ballangee of Huntington, Mrs Flem Artrip of Tom's Creek and Mrs. George Sumbo of Wayne County.
